Streaming images for 2009 New Years Around the World

Streaming Links

Two years ago, when they found out about the party, my friends at work suggested that I should take some of the spare IP cameras home and put them around the house.  I did that. We have managed to install all but one of them so I've got just one for this year. I got the hardware to run it via POE so this year I'll have to move it around as the party shifts.

For PreParty, it's pointing out the window at the back yard. I'll move it to the Kitchen the morning of the 31st and where ever later...
If you can't be here, join us to celebrate remotely in any time zone...

The Guest Book is already working, so please sign in and your name will show up for the next time zone that you join us for. Please keep in mind, you will need to sign-in for every time zone so we have both a picture and a guest book of everyone who celebrates.

From what I've been able to determine, these seem to only work with Internet Explorer. When you first connect, you will be asked to install the DLINK MPEG4 plugin. Go ahead - it's safe and secure.
FYI - No other browser I've tried attempts to download the plugin. But, you can always try...

Each camera can support up to 10 connections. When you connect, you will be asked to login. Type demo for the username - leave the password blank. After you login, you may get some messages about not being to connect via various types (UPD/TCP), this should be okay.  I've added the audio support for the cameras this year so you should be able to hear us as well as see us if you connection will allow it. (The upper left corner of the video window will say "HTTP-V" - video only, "UDP-AV" - audio and video, or "TCP-AV" - audio and video.) From what I've found, some firewall or VPN software will only allow the "HTTP-V" connection.

The way things have always worked in the past is that for the 'early zones' we celebrate in the Kitchen. Once the party gets going (5 or 6 people), we will move to the Living Room.

NOTE: When you choose the "From Internet in new window" option, a new window for the streaming image will open. If you choose that camera again, the streaming image will go to that same window which may be below the current window or iconized.
